Fatal and Nonfatal Outcomes, Incidence of Hypertension, and Blood Pressure Changes in Relation to Urinary Sodium Excretion

In this controversial prospective observational study, reduced sodium excretion (a marker of sodium intake) was associated with increased mortality, rather than the expected opposite finding.  Higher sodium excretion was, however, associated with increased systolic blood pressure.
