Acute dialysis risk in living kidney donors

.   .

This is a population-based matched cohort study of all living kidney donors in Ontario, Canada form 1992-2009. Of the 2027 donors and 20 270 matched non-donors reviewed only 1 donor required acute dialysis in the 6 year follow-up. This was not statistically significant from the non-donor rate. This study adds further reassuring evidence for the practice of living related kidney donation.
