Autoantibodies Specific for the Phospholipase A2 Receptor in Recurrent and De Novo Membranous Nephropathy

.   .

An important recent story in glomerulonephritis has been the discovery of the anti-phospholipase A2 receptor antibodies (PLA2R Ab) in many patients with membranous nephropathy. This paper aims to relate the presence or absence of this antibody to the likelihood of recurrence. Patients with de novo membranous nephropathy did not produce PLA2R Ab. Surprisingly, the antibody was detected in only half of patients in their cohort who experienced recurrence.
