Comparison of the prognostic value of dipyridamole and dobutamine myocardial perfusion scintigraphy in hemodialysis patients.
De Vriese AS, De Bacquer DA, Verbeke FH, De Winter O, Franken PR, De Sutter JH, Walgraeve N, Missault L, De Geeter FW. Kidney Int. 2009 Aug;76(4):428-36
This study compared the use of dobutamine and dipyridamole in cardiac stress testing of patients on hemodialysis. Although dobutamine induced more pronounced myocardial ischemia than dipyridamole in chronic hemodialysis patients, use of dipyridamole more accurately identifies patients at high risk for subsequent cardiac death or non-fatal CAD.

Given that cardiac disease is the most common cause of death in our dialysis patients, I found that this article provided very helpful information on how to diagnose those patients at highest risk.
