This observational study of the ONTARGET type 2 diabetic patient population showed that a healthy diet (consisting of more than 3 servings of fruit per week) and a moderate intake of alcohol may decrease the incidence or progression of CKD in this population. Interestingly, sodium and normal protein intake were not associated with CKD.
