Neither did I.  It seems that there was just a few words that the side effects of the roux-en-y were “. . . gallstones and kidney stones”. And that was it.  During 2011 I have had three bouts of Kidney Stone Attacks.  Two of them requiring hospitalization and all of them were Calcium Oscalate and Calcium Uric Acid.  All the time my blood (Serum) levels of Uric Acid and Oscalate were well within the reference zones, yet my 24 hour urine analysis showed that Urine Calcium Oxscalate was way out off the reference range as well also as Calcium.  My Creatin clearances were no problem, yet I now have the title of “Stone Former” by my uriologist.  1/10/12

  • I had no idea roux-en-y bypass surgery could affect kindey stones. Is this related to the diet a post patient has to follow after surgery or somehow due to dehydration?
