Short-term Outcomes of Induction Therapy With Tacrolimus Versus Cyclophosphamide for Active Lupus Nephritis: A Multicenter Randomized Clinical Trial

.   .

This multicenter noninferiority randomized controlled trial compared the efficacy and safety of tacrolimus versus intravenous cyclophosphamide as induction therapy for lupus nephritis. While limited by lack of blinding, small sample size, and short duration of follow-up, this study suggested that prednisone + tacrolimus achieved similar cumulative probabilities of complete remission and response than prednisone + cyclophosphamide after the 6-month induction period.
